Environmentally
Friendly Flowers
Whenever
possible, Fresh buys flowers with VeriFlora
certification, an international standard that promotes environmentally
and socially responsible flower production.
Our
plant waste is separated from non-recyclable waste. Plant waste
goes to a compost pile in the garden to decompose naturally. Non-recyclable
materials are re-used as often as possible.
Packaging
materials such as cardboard boxes and newspapers are recycled.
Flower
buckets and vases are cleaned with environmentally sound products
by the Vermont-based company Seventh
Generation.
A
portion of the electricity for the Fresh studio is purchased from
the Vermont Cow
Power program, which turns methane gas from cow manure into
useable energy.
We
use easily recyclable brown boxes and kraft paper bags for delivering
hand-held bouquets and boutonnieres.
To
the greatest extent possible, the Fresh office is a paperless
office.
