Dana
Barrow, florist
I
trained in floral design at the Jane Packer Flower School in New
York with talented florists from around the world. I’ve also
studied at the Flower School New York where the instructors are
some of the top florists in the city.
The
inspiration behind my designs comes from my deep interest in decorative
and fine arts, as well as my fascination with world cultures and
a love of travel.
In
college I studied archaeology and American decorative arts, and
received a master’s degree from the College of William and
Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. I worked on excavations in Bermuda
and the Caribbean, where the extraordinary flowers and gardens gave
me the first hint that I should trade in my archaeologist’s
trowel for a pair of floral shears.
I
started Fresh to offer a fantastic selection of fine flowers, stylish
vases, and services that emphasize personal attention and creative
design.
I’m
perpetually seeking out new sources of unusual flowers, and combing
the markets for exquisite glassware, papers, ribbons, and fabrics
to complement my arrangements. I’ve always been attracted
to the work of small-scale producers who offer original designs
of high quality, and am committed to sourcing beautiful flowers
and materials from specialist suppliers both locally and abroad.
